Blocking unwanted calls from timeshare telemarketersHow to Block Unwanted Timeshare Calls

Unwanted telemarketing calls, especially those originating from timeshare resale scammers, have become a great inconvenience for many people that own timeshares. Not only do these disturbances cause disruption throughout our daily lives, but they can also result in financial losses for unsuspecting individuals.

Let’s be crystal clear: these are not legitimate resale companies, but rather dishonest telemarketers looking to take your money without providing the services they promised.  In this article, we will go into detail about how timeshare resale telemarketers affect owners and discuss some of the best ways you can shield yourself from their fraudulent phone calls. Let’s show you how to block unwanted timeshare calls.

Steering Clear of Deceptive Calls From Unlicensed Telemarketers

Each year, numerous well-meaning individuals encounter tempting offers from telemarketers who present themselves as the bridge to lucrative timeshare sales. The allure of swiftly selling their timeshares at a handsome profit is often irresistible. However, beneath the surface of these offers lies a harsh reality – these telemarketers typically lack the requisite real estate licensure, with their true intent being to amass hefty listing fees without any genuine ambition of aiding in the sale of the property.

They may resort to high-pressure sales tactics to hasten decision-making, thereby coaxing individuals into revealing personal information or transferring funds to their accounts. The mask of assistance they don often conceals a sinister motive, making these unscrupulous telemarketers a grave concern for timeshare owners. Acknowledging the potential threat is the first step towards prevention, as a little vigilance can significantly mitigate the risk of falling prey to such scams.

Financial implications of dealing with telemarketersThe Implications of Fraudulent Timeshare Resale Programs:

Over recent years, the menace of deceitful telemarketing practices has left countless timeshare owners bereft of genuine help, suffering financial, emotional, and time-related consequences. Let’s delve into the ramifications of this issue.

Financial Disparities: Timeshare resale fraudsters exploit the eagerness of owners desiring to sell their properties, usually demanding an upfront fee purportedly to facilitate the sale. This fee can escalate from hundreds to thousands of dollars. Yet, once the payment is made, these charlatans vanish, leaving the owner financially strained and without a sale.

Emotional Toll: The emotional distress stemming from falling victim to a timeshare resale scam is profound. Feelings of embarrassment, violation, and a diminished trust in others, especially regarding future transactions, often linger, exacerbating the psychological impact.

Time Squandered: The barrage of unsolicited telemarketing calls not only wastes precious time but disrupts daily activities. The effort to manage these interruptions and attempt to block the incessant calls can be draining, especially when they encroach upon work hours, undermining productivity.

Taking Preventative Strides:

Awareness and preventative measures are crucial shields against the ploys of fraudulent telemarketers. Being cautious about sharing personal information, verifying the credentials of telemarketing agents, and reporting suspicious activity to relevant authorities are proactive steps in fostering a secure environment, which in turn, minimizes the possibility of being ensnared in deceitful timeshare resale schemes.

Telemarketing SharksHow to Stop Getting Calls From Telemarketers:

  1. Register with the National Do Not Call Registry: The first step to reduce unwanted telemarketing calls is to register your phone number with the National Do Not Call Registry. This should significantly decrease the number of telemarketing calls you receive.
  2. Use Call-Blocking Apps: Several call-blocking apps are available for both Android and iOS devices. These apps can identify and block known scam numbers, as well as provide the option to block specific numbers manually.
  3. Utilize Built-In Smartphone Features: Most smartphones have built-in features to block calls from specific numbers. These features can usually be found in the settings menu or the call log. Simply follow the prompts to add the unwanted number to your blocked list.
  4. Contact Your Phone Carrier: Many phone carriers offer services to help block unwanted calls. Reach out to your provider to learn more about the options available to you.
  5. Report Scam Calls: Reporting scam calls to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) can help track down and prosecute scammers. By sharing information about the unwanted call, you can contribute to efforts to reduce scam and telemarketing activities.

If you have been taken advantage of by a timeshare company, it is highly recommendable to act fast and also report to your local police department. Additionally, if your losses are extensive, consulting a qualified timeshare lawyer may be another option for seeking recourse against the business and its staff members responsible.

According to a recent press release by the FBI, over 600 victims were scammed out of an astonishing $39 million. I found Finn Law Group in July 2019 when I couldn't find a way to get rid of my timeshare. It had been given as a gift and I realized a few years later that it was not something I should have agreed to take on. After calling the timeshare directly to have them buy back or take it back, they simply replied that they don't do such things. I searched online for timeshare attorneys and found Finn Law Group. Mr. Finn and his team put me at ease and said they would work with me to get rid of the timeshare but made sure to tell me that it would take time. With COVID hitting less than a year later, it set the timeline back considerably. Finally, I got the call from Louise in January 2026 saying that the timeshare had been taken back and I was free and clear. It was one of the best calls I’ve ever received in recent memory. After securing the group’s services in 2019, Louise stuck with me and kept me updated and protected. I cannot thank her and everybody at Finn Law Group enough for their help with this matter. I highly recommend Mr. Finn, Louise, and everyone at Finn Law Group for their services. It was a long and nerve-wracking journey, but they succeeded and I’m eternally grateful. THANK YOU!

We contacted Finn Law Group about getting out of our timeshare and were so happy with the advice they gave us. Instead of charging us, they told us exactly what steps to take with our timeshare company, and it worked! In the end, we were able to get released from our contract for a fraction of what we thought it would cost. We really appreciate their honesty and guidance and would definitely recommend them.
